Dear Parents,

You may have recently received a text message  " SFUSD alerts. Reply Y to confirm, HELP for info. Msg&data rates may apply.  Msg freq varies.schoolmessenger.com/txt" from the number 67587.

This is an official opt-in message from SFUSD via SchoolMessenger, our mass notification system for sending out phone calls, emails and text messages.

You have received this message because your mobile phone number was recently updated in our student information system.

We understand this message is alarming and not clear. Unfortunately, we do not have any control over the way this message gets sent out from SchoolMessenger.

We do encourage you to reply "Y" to this invitation to receive text messages from SFUSD, as it makes for much faster communication, which is crucial in the event of an emergency.

SchoolMessenger does not share any of your information, and you will not receive texts from any third parties.

826 Valencia is proud to announce our eighth weekend-long personal statement tutoring event, The Great San Francisco Personal Statement Weekend, will be held on October 15 and 16 at Mission High School. We invite all SFUSD high school seniors to register for a weekend of free college essay help.

Here’s how it works: during the weekend of October 15 and 16, 826 Valencia will have trained tutors on call to give one-on-one attention to students who are writing responses to the UC's Personal Insight Questions, Common Application essays, and scholarship essays. We're prepared to support students at all stages of the writing process, whether they’re just starting, almost finished, or somewhere in between. We’ll also have computers on hand for easy editing and brain food to keep them going.

Registering for the event as a student is easy and free—just follow this link for more information and to sign up. You can choose to attend one or two two-hour session(s) on either or both days. Advance registration is required so we can best prepare to meet each student's individual needs.

Save the date and spread the word! Last year we served 171 students over the weekend, and this year we are hoping to exceed 200. Seniors: Don't miss this opportunity to polish your personal statements, making them clear, powerful, meaningful, memorable, and effective at getting you into college!
